Another injured Siskin

(again, not the injured Siskin)

Well, #92 now has a friend. His name is #115. Yesterday, while I was at work, Michelle rescued a Pine Siskin from the mouth of a neighborhood cat. She had to chase the cat around and yell at it, but it finally dropped the Siskin. Michelle then scooped it up and immediately took off for the Audubon Society. She got there just before closing (5pm) and they immediately went to work on the Siskin. She said to call in a couple of days for an update.

While Michelle was in the rescue center, the woman working there exclaimed (pointing to #92) "look, there's your other one"! and laughed. She also told Michelle that #92 gets his wing wrap off today. Yeah!

I'll tell you what, those people at the Audubon Society are fantastic! Michelle was thanking them profusely for taking in yet another injured Siskin from us (we've dropped off 2 in 7 days). The woman working actually thanked Michelle for caring enough about the birds to bring them in. Such wonderful people. Kudos to you (again) Audubon! It makes us even more proud to be members.

P.S. - Jenny, you left a comment a few days ago and you wanted some information but I don't have a way to contact you. If you could email us at nepobirds@yahoo.com and give us your contact info we would be more than happy to get you started. Thanks and good birding!

Wow, three injured birds lately. Thank God for you two caring enough to get them cared for.

We're just trying to care for a little pine Siskin that smashed into our window, she seems to be alert now, we made a little nest to protect her from the wind and left her outside on the deck out of the rain, as we have 3 young children inside. We don't have an Audobon Society where we live, so I'm hoping for the best, poor little thing.

Yay! After a couple of hours of rest, the little siskin hopped up onto the edge of the basket and flew off into the nearby cedars. My girls were so excited for her, and so was I.
